Location: Wakeley Lake Area

Directions: From Grayling, travel east on M-72 about 10 miles to the entrance road and parking lot on the left (north) side of the road.  Look for Wakeley Lake signs along M-72.

Join HeadWaters Land Conservancy as we hike through a variety of habitats at Wakeley Lake Area east of Grayling.  U.S. Forest Service biologist Phil Huber will be our guide as we look and listen for migrating and courting birds.  Wakeley Lake is home to nesting pairs of loons and eagles, and late May is the perfect time to see newly arrived warblers and other songbirds.

We will meet in the parking lot at Wakeley Lake Area and hike from there.  Bring a field guide and binoculars if you have them.  The U.S. Forest Service charges a $5 fee per vehicle to access Wakeley Lake Area.  To minimize disturbance and increase our chances of viewing as many birds as possible, please leave your dog at home.
