HeadWaters Land Conservancy is pleased to announce the addition of six talented and passionate individuals to its Board of Directors, further strengthening its commitment to protecting and preserving the natural beauty of Northeast Michigan. These new board members bring diverse professional backgrounds, a shared passion for conservation, and strong ties to the region, enhancing the organization’s ability to serve its communities and protect vital natural resources.
HeadWaters Land Conservancy, a nonprofit land trust founded in 1994, works to protect and preserve the scenic beauty, clean water, and healthy forests of Northeast Michigan through voluntary conservation agreements, public nature preserves, land stewardship, and community outreach. The organization’s service area spans the counties of Alcona, Alpena, Arenac, Crawford, Iosco, Montmorency, Ogemaw, Oscoda, Otsego, Presque Isle, and Roscommon. With the addition of these new board members, HeadWaters is excited to expand its capacity to protect the land and water that define the character and quality of life in this unique region.

Michael Coy
A lifelong resident of Northern Michigan, Mike Coy brings a deep appreciation for the region’s forests, lakes, and wildlife. With a long career in the natural gas industry, Mike balances his professional life with outdoor pursuits, including hunting, fishing, and snowmobiling. His love for Michigan’s natural beauty and commitment to conservation make him a passionate advocate for HeadWaters’ mission. Mike is excited to contribute to the protection of the landscapes that have shaped his life.


Sierra Hilt
Sierra Hilt is a dedicated healthcare professional with over 15 years of experience in emergency medicine, nursing, and public health. Currently completing her Doctor of Nursing Practice at the University of Michigan-Flint, Sierra has extensive leadership experience, including coordinating community coalitions and youth mentoring programs. Her deep connection to Michigan’s natural landscapes and her understanding of the link between environmental health and community well-being make her a passionate advocate for conservation and a strong addition to the HeadWaters board.
Amanda Derocher
A Northeast Michigan native, Amanda Derocher is the owner of Flora+Fungi, a small herb farm and herbal products business. Amanda has always felt a deep connection to the plants and natural landscapes of Northern Michigan, and she uses her platform to promote ecological stewardship and community education. In addition to her entrepreneurial work, Amanda is a dedicated nature educator, inspiring others to appreciate and protect the natural world. She looks forward to sharing her knowledge and passion for conservation as a member of the HeadWaters board.


Michelle Millikin
A trusted real estate agent and active community volunteer from Grayling, MI, Michelle Millikin brings a deep love for her hometown and a passion for preserving the natural beauty of Northeast Michigan. In addition to her professional work helping families find their perfect homes, Michelle has been actively involved with community organizations including the AuSable River Canoe Marathon, the Miss AuSable River Festival, the Grayling Downtown Development Authority, and the local Grayling Chamber of Commerce. Her strong community ties and dedication to conservation will enhance HeadWaters’ efforts to protect the places that make Michigan special.
Alexandra Popoff
A Michigan native with extensive professional experience, Alexandra (Alex) Popoff holds both a J.D. from the University of Michigan Law School and an M.B.A. from the University of Tennessee. Her career spans high-profile legal roles in mergers and acquisitions, corporate reorganizations, and in-house counsel positions across multiple industries. Now dedicating her time to nonprofit work and pro bono legal services, Alex brings a wealth of legal and business expertise to the HeadWaters board.


BobbieJo Wilson
With over 26 years of experience in retail management and operations, BobbieJo Wilson currently serves as Operations District Manager for Stash Ventures LLC, overseeing compliance and operations for seven retail locations. A lifelong Michigander, BobbieJo has a deep appreciation for the beauty of our state’s trails, lakes, and forests. Her professional expertise in leadership and team building, combined with her personal passion for protecting natural resources, will be a valuable asset to HeadWaters Land Conservancy.
